PLANT NUTRITION

There are many products and management practices that contribute to the gradual decline in soil health and sustainability, one of the most significant is the addition of chemical fertilizers which are 'salts' and their regular addition has a detrimental impact on beneficial soil organisms.

Manures can also contain heavy salt loads, and we would suggest that a current analysis of manure products should always be obtained before adding these to your soil. Of course fertilizers are necessary, but we would suggest that by improving the biological status of the soil, over time you will need to add less of them, and thus reduce their negative effects.

To help reduce the damage we have developed a range of organically based and biologically activated fertilizers that can provide adequate levels of plant nutrition, whilst being less injurious to the soil ecology.

Soilsafe MEND

Soilsafe MEND employs newly developed humic acid technology which buffers the release of Nitrogen protecting plants from any acidifying effects and increasing the retention of Nitrogen in the root zone. The result is a slow release Nitrogen component in this product which is more ‘soil friendly’. MEND also contains a significant quantity of Silica to build plant cell strength and assist with Calcium uptake and disease resistance. It also has a significant quantity of stable Organic Carbon to encourage and promote biological growth and CEC improvement in the soil.

MEND also contains a diverse array of beneficial soil microbes due to the inclusion of GranoVerm. The beneficial soil organisms contained in MEND have been identified and selected for their ability to provide ongoing protection to the plant from pathogenic organisms, thus reducing the impact of disease.

The natural rock minerals contained in MEND bring long term nutrient supply to the soil, and help reduce the volume of inorganic fertilizers that may be needed, reducing the
salting effect that chemical fertilizers induce, and minimising the potential damage to the soil ecology.

Application Rates:

Turfgrass applications:
Mend is an ideal inclusion at renovation and should be applied at 15kg – 20kg/100m2 depending on soil conditions, and incorporate into the profile.

General landscape use (trees, shrubs, garden areas, including natives):
Apply 1.5kg – 2.5kg/10m2) and incorporate into the profile.

Agricultural/Horticultural crops:
Apply 300kg - 500kg per hectare depending on soil conditions, and incorporate into the soil.

Soilsafe Activated P

Soilsafe Activated P is a Cadmium free, colloidal Calcium Phosphate; it provides a long term source of Phosphorous, Calcium, Silica and a range of trace elements. In contrast to manufactured Phosphate fertilizers, Soilsafe Activated P will not easily ‘lock-up’ and become unavailable in the profile. Phosphorous is a vital, energy producing element which is needed at the growing tips of plant shoots and roots, it is extremely important to have adequate levels available for young, actively growing plants or to aid in the recovery following renovation or periods of stress. Soilsafe Activated P provides for a continual supply of available Phosphorous.

Application Rates:

Turfgrass uses:
Apply 10kg – 15kg/100m2depending on soil conditions, and incorporate into the profile.

General landscape use (trees, shrubs, garden areas, including natives):
Apply 1kg – 1.5kg/10m2) and incorporate into the profile.

Agricultural/Horticultural crops:
Apply 500kg – 1000kg per hectare depending on soil conditions, and incorporate into the soil.

OC KP

Organically chelated (food grade) Potassium and Phosphorus in a soluble powder formulation, designed for superior uptake and translocation. Ideal following cold and wet conditions or when uptake from the soil may be compromised. This is important to note because traditional methods of side-dressing or fertigation with Phosphorus fertilizers at times of stress are normally too slow to generate a response. Even the highly water-soluble forms have a very low rate of availability. Effective foliar Phosphorus products are not common, however if Phosphorous is deficient the use of OC KP should be considered.

Application Rates:

Turf and General:
Apply to the soil at 400 – 500 grams per 1000m2
